Defense: US nuclear sub in collision near Iran

Gulf Daily News reports a nuclear-powered US submarine and an amphibious vessel collided in the Strait of Hormuz bordering Iran yesterday, but there was no damage to the atomic propulsion unit.

Fifteen sailors were injured in the collision between submarine USS Hartford and USS New Orleans, the US Navy's Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet said.

It was the second collision involving a US nuclear submarine in the Strait of Hormuz in just over two years.
