Iran: Iran set to hang woman for crime committed as a minor

AFP reports Iran is set to hang a woman convicted of committing a murder as a minor, but she could escape the gallows if the victim's family pardons her, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

Delara Darabi, 23, was found guilty of murdering a relative during a burglary she carried out along with a friend at the age of 17.

"My client will be hanged in four days," her lawyer Abdolsamad Khoramshahi told Iranian daily Etemad.

He said the only way Darabi can stay alive is if the victim's family pardons her. "Those who want to see her alive must urge the victim's family to drop their call for qesas (retribution)," he said.
