Madeleine McCann: Oh no you didn't

In a country where the credit crunch has been blamed for the suicide by hanging of a laid off surveyor who couldn't pay his mortgage, Kate McCann, (who voluntary gave up work while the mortgage on their luxury family home was paid for out of the Madeleine McCann fund), has boasted they have spent £1m trying to find Madeleine - the little girl who along with her younger siblings, Kate and her husband deliberately left alone every night of what is misleadingly described as a family holiday.

As with so many things the McCanns' and their group of hangers-on and supporters claim – the statement is a lie.

Very little has been paid for out of the McCann's own pockets - or even Gerry's stolen wallet.

The McCanns unproductive "search" and the rag-tag army of so-called private detectives with questionable ethics, has largely been paid for by emotionally blackmailed schoolchildren, invalid pensioners and the terminally gullible.

Kate wouldn't even go back to work to help add to the funds, preferring instead to swan around the EU chinking glasses while promoting a cause that others had been working on for years - a cause that was of no interest to her before the night of May 3 made it expedient for Kate and Gerry to be seen supporting it.

The McCanns are big on claiming credit for things others were responsible for, but silent when it comes to accepting the blame for events that were solely of their own making.

A McCann story had to come of course, it was just a matter of waiting for the big-ticket and up to date news stories of Britain's Olympic success, Gary Glitter and your-average-shonky British businessman Foster, died down.

The McCanns have a need to keep their names in the headlines. The icons of self-pity must have been chomping at the bit to launch yet another media campaign which as usual is aimed at promoting and defending a part-time doctor who specialized in handling corpses, and the man with a Golden Address Book that no doubt could add much to this sad and sorry saga.

The deliberately misleading news of their generosity comes a day after The Sun tried to discredit two highly trained, highly respected and highly insured British trained sniffer dogs, for the sole reason of laying the blame for Madeleine's fate on detectives who along with other Portuguese tax payers, have spent far more in the search for Maddie than the McCanns, Branson or Kennedy ever have or are likely to. They also spent far more time looking for her - which isn't too difficult as the McCanns believe it is the responsibility of others to get down and on their hands and knees in the dirt looking for clues. The McCanns like others to do their dirty work for them.

Perhaps the British media would like to publish a more accurate headline - "The McCanns running out of money and want yours so Dr Kate doesn't have to work and handle more corpses - it's so hard to get the smell of one's clothes"
